Astell House, as a residential home, is unusual in that it has a full time nurse as part of the care team. The nurse is able to understand each resident’s clinical care as well as getting know them personally, responding to any change in condition rapidly. – the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service. It has been a very difficult year for both staff and residents, yet my mother has not suffered too much in terms of anxiety and mood. We are grateful, as a family, for the care she continues to receive, and we apprentice fully the very difficult decisions the management has had to make to ensure the safety of all the residents. The staff at Astell are kind, caring and extremely patient. The care they have given during this very difficult time is so appreciated by the family. Life With Us
All bedrooms have en suite facilities; there are ample communal rooms and additional bathrooms and toilets. There is a passenger lift large enough to accommodate a wheelchair dependant person and one escort. Behind the home is a sizeable paved garden area, which provides safe outdoor space, accessible by wheelchair. Off road parking is provided at the front of the building for a number of cars.

Sherry hour is enjoyed before lunch each day, when residents and staff gather to socialise. An afternoon tea is held in the dining room every day at 2.30pm, which is becoming a popular occasion with residents and their visiting friends and family! We hold special seasonal days throughout the year, theming our food around all the major festivals, as well as sporting and royal events.
The inspector made no statutory requirements on the home as a result of this inspection and there were no outstanding actions from the previous inspection report. Our accessible landscaped gardens offer plenty of places to sit quietly or socialise with family and friends with the beautiful architecture of Astell as its backdrop. Each resident has a named key worker who helps them settle in and becomes their main contact to help with day to day needs. Our chefs prepare fresh nutritious and well balanced menus each day, offering a wide range of options at every meal.

As a small home we get to know each resident personally and enjoy finding activities which are interesting and stimulating for each individual to encourage physical and mental wellbeing. Our activities coordinator organises a varied programme, tailored to the interests of our residents. Some activities are organised for small groups whereas others are organised on a one to one basis. In addition we have a great store of crafts, jigsaws and games for residents to enjoy at their own leisure.

Astley House has extensive galleries in Moreton-in-Marsh where they show a wide variety of 19th-21st century paintings and furnishing items.
