The inspector made no statutory requirements on the home as a result of this inspection and there were no outstanding actions from the previous inspection report. Our accessible landscaped gardens offer plenty of places to sit quietly or socialise with family and friends with the beautiful architecture of Astell as its backdrop. The raised beds offer accessible gardening opportunities for green fingered residents. Astell House is a striking home full of character and interest.
Sherry hour is enjoyed before lunch each day, when residents and staff gather to socialise. An afternoon tea is held in the dining room every day at 2.30pm, which is becoming a popular occasion with residents and their visiting friends and family! We hold special seasonal days throughout the year, theming our food around all the major festivals, as well as sporting and royal events.

Every room has ensuite facilities and residents are welcome to add their own furnishings and personal belongings. The paintings include a wide variety of Victorian oils; landscapes, genre, portraits, still-life, and larger decorative works many of which will be of interest to Interior Designers. There are also ceramics, glassware and decorative items on display. Astley House has extensive galleries in Moreton-in-Marsh where they show a wide variety of 19th-21st century paintings and furnishing items. David and Nanette Glaisyer and their son Caradoc are part of the oldest established picture and antique dealing family in the Cotswolds. Situated in the peaceful setting of historic North Berwick, Astley House Nursing Home provides the highest quality care and accommodation for a total of 40 elderly guests.
Astell House, as a residential home, is unusual in that it has a full time nurse as part of the care team. The nurse is able to understand each resident’s clinical care as well as getting know them personally, responding to any change in condition rapidly. We are pleased to quote for the cleaning and restoration of paintings and we also do specialist framing.

– the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service. It has been a very difficult year for both staff and residents, yet my mother has not suffered too much in terms of anxiety and mood. We are grateful, as a family, for the care she continues to receive, and we apprentice fully the very difficult decisions the management has had to make to ensure the safety of all the residents. The staff at Astell are kind, caring and extremely patient. The care they have given during this very difficult time is so appreciated by the family. I would have no hesitation in recommending Astell to anyone thinking of respite or permanent care.
There are steps to the front entrance but wheelchair access can be gained through a side gate which leads to the paved area and its entrance. This is the latest available inspection report for this service, carried out on 16th March 2010. As a small home we get to know each resident personally and enjoy finding activities which are interesting and stimulating for each individual to encourage physical and mental wellbeing. Our activities coordinator organises a varied programme, tailored to the interests of our residents. Some activities are organised for small groups whereas others are organised on a one to one basis. In addition we have a great store of crafts, jigsaws and games for residents to enjoy at their own leisure.
We will help with the hanging and lighting of paintings and will advise on the enhancement of interiors. Reviews are limited to one per user and you have reviewed this business before.
